Allow at least two hours for the paint to dry.Make two bat wings. Draw a pointy wing on one side of the black construction paper with a white crayon. Fold the paper in half. Cut out the wing, with the paper still folded, to make two wings.Fold the side edge of each wing (where it will attach to the side of the bat) down one-half inch to make a flap. Glue each flap to the sides of the painted tube.Create a vampire face for your bat. Use a thin paintbrush to add two yellow eyes and a red mouth. Paint on tiny fangs using toothpick and white tempera.Tape the craft stick to the inside of the tube to make a handle for your vampire bat puppet.Decorate your yard for Halloween with a black trash bag tarantula. If you get paint on your skin, put a few drops of fingernail polish on a Bounty paper towel and rub until the paint comes off.Flip the noodles over and repeat the spray painting step to cover the underside and ends of the noodles with paint.Run the rope around the center of one noodle and tie a snug knot. Put the next noodle against the knot. Tie the second noodle snugly to the first one. • Red Food ColoringYou can use almost anything to create your volcano’s base, depending on the size and shape of the volcano you need. In this case, we’ll be using an overturned plastic bowl. For a bigger volcano, attach a toilet paper tube to the top of the bowl. Surround it with tissue paper and masking tape to make the general shape of your volcano. The toilet paper tube also provides a ready-made mouth or "crater" for your volcano. With a little imagination, your child should be able to see the volcano take its form from this early stage.Now comes the part where we construct the crater of the volcano. The size of the volcano will dictate the size of the crater. For a smaller volcano, you’ll need a small bottle (like a film canister or a single-serving yogurt container will work best). For a larger volcano, a 12-ounce plastic water bottle will do the trick. This bottle will form the mouth or "crater" of the volcano. This will also serve as the chamber where the baking soda and vinegar will be mixed. Make sure that the bottle is made from a strong material so it will hold the vinegar without leaking. Ideally, pick a bottle with a relatively narrow neck so that when the volcano erupts, the eruption will be narrow and focused as opposed to spraying haphazardly all over the place. (While your kid might rather appreciate a messy eruption, we’re fairly confident that your child’s teacher will not.)The paste mix is an integral part of making any paper-mâché project. To make your paste, you’ll need water, flour, and sometimes glue. A good ratio is one to six for flour and water, respectively. You may add one or two tablespoons of glue or paste to make your mix a little stronger, but it shouldn’t be necessary.Here’s a little tip that the best paper-mâché volcano makers don’t want you to know—Bounty paper towels work best. They absorb the paste mix best, and they're about a zillion times easier to work with than copy paper or construction paper.It’s time to start building your volcano. We’ll begin by building a base over your base.Okay, let’s get that volcano looking like a volcano. Acrylic paints work best with paper-mâché. Grays, browns and a little black can provide the look of stone for an active volcano, while greens and yellows make for a great, grass-covered dormant volcano. If you've got some artistic ability, spill red and yellow from the crater down the sides to create magma spewing from an erupting volcano.The eruption happens as a result of a chemical reaction between two substances—baking soda and vinegar. You'll need up to a cup of vinegar and two tablespoons of baking soda, though this may change depending on how large your volcano and its crater happen to be.Well, that’s quite a mess you’ve made! 24 Gummy Worms

24 Gummy Insects or SpidersScoop about three tablespoons of frosting out and put it in the small dish to save for sticking the creepy-crawlies on the cupcakes.Scoop out about two tablespoons of frosting and use the butter knife's flat edge to spread a thick layer of frosting on each cupcake.Pour the coconut and sugar in the mixing bowl. Add three or four drops of black food coloring to the coconut and sugar. Use the spoon to thoroughly mix the food coloring through the coconut. If you want your coconut darker, add a couple more drops of food coloring and mix it in.Hold the cupcakes over the bowl, one at a time, and use the spoon to scoop up coconut and sprinkle it in the frosting to cover the top of the cupcake.Use the butter knife's tip to scoop a tiny glob of frosting out of the small dish. Choose a gummy insect and put the frosting on the back of the insect. Stick the insect right in the center of a cupcake, then repeat with the rest of the insects and cupcakes.Pick up one of the gummy worms, hold it about one inch from the end, and stick the end straight down into the cupcake's top, about half an inch from the insect. Wrap the worm loosely around the insect and put a drop or two of frosting on the worm's underside to stick it to the top of the cupcake. Add the rest of the worms to rest of your creepy-crawly cupcakes. Clean up with Bounty paper towels.Follow Us

Safety ScissorsThere is no exact science to this Bounty paper towel roll craft. The first step is to flatten a few Bounty paper towel rolls and cut into equal rings. The thickness of the rings is up to you, but they should all be the same. Generally, 1” to 2” thickness is best. The amount of paper towel rolls you will need simply depends upon how large you want your flower sculpture. One paper towel roll should generate between 6 and 10 rings depending upon thickness.Start with eight rings and lay them out on a flat surface in a flower shape (a circle). Pop the rings out a bit so they resemble flower petals or leaves. Glue the sides together but only the bottom half of each ring. Kids should use craft glue. Although craft glue works fine, adults who wish to make a sculpture that is sturdier should use a hot glue gun.Then work on the next layer. Take eight more rings and glue the bottom half of those in between the top half of the first circle of rings. Continue to add outer layers to the flower in the same manner. From this point on, you should squeeze two rings between the previous layer of petals to keep the flower full. When your flower reaches the desired size, you are finished.Although you can hang the paper towels roll craft just as it is, you might wish to spray paint it to match your decor and look even more beautiful. All spray painting should be done outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Put some paper towels underneath the paper towel roll sculpture to catch the overspray.Follow Us

Colorful Wrapping PaperUsing the pen and ruler, draw a rectangle, about 8” x 4” on the report cover. Use the scissors to cut it out, and then draw three lines lengthwise on it, with one line close to the edge.Fold the plastic along the lines to make an elongated triangular tube, with a thin strip along the one edge folding up on the outside of the triangle. Tape the triangle closed by placing tape along the edge lengthwise.Put the plastic triangular shape into the paper towel roll lengthwise.Cut a circle of construction paper that is the exact size of the circle at the end of the paper towel tube, and tape it to the end of the tube.Use the toothpick to poke a hole in the center of the circle.Press the square of plastic wrap into the tube's other end so that it is like a little pouch. Place the confetti, sequins, beads, or plastic pieces into the pouch.Use the rubber band to secure the waxed paper square over the plastic pouch to keep all the little pieces in. Cut the corners off the squares. Tape the wrapping paper on the outside of the tube.Your paper towel roll kaleidoscope is now ready to use. Hold it up to the light and look through the hole while turning the tube. You'll be amazed by what you see!This simple rain stick craft brings the outdoors inside.
