These easy glittered roses are great as gifts or to display as sparkly centerpieces. For Valentine's Day, use traditional red roses. Use iridescent glitter, instead of metallic, for other color roses. Because you are using glue and glitter, buy inexpensive silk roses at a discount store. Adult supervision required.
What You'll Need:
12 Long Stemmed Red Silk Roses
Fine Tipped Paintbrush
Metallic Glitter in Red, Silver and Green
Bounty Paper Towels
Put a layer of waxed paper on the table. Work on one rose at a time. Pour a puddle of glue about the size of a nickel on the corner of the waxed paper. Since you will be working with a lot of glue, use Bounty paper towels to clean up sticky messes!
Dip the tip of the paintbrush in the glue and, starting at the center of the rose, paint a thin line of glue around the edges of the inner petals. Paint about half of the petals, working quickly so the glue doesn't dry before you add the glitter. Sprinkle red glitter on the tips of the glued rose petals. If needed, continue adding more glue on the corner of the waxed paper.
Starting where you stopped, in the middle of the rose, paint the rest of the petal edges with glue. Sprinkle silver glitter in the wet glue. Paint the tips of the leaves on the rose stem with glue and sprinkle green glitter in the wet glue. Put the glittered roses on the waxed paper to dry as you complete each one.
