Even if you only live in a one-bedroom apartment, you probably have at least a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, a dining room, and a bedroom to clean. With so much surface area to cover, it can be a daunting situation. But with this chore list for quick weekly cleaning, you'll have it under control year-round!
What You'll Need:
Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner
Bounty Paper Towels
Many have found that the best way to stay on top of cleaning the interior of an apartment or house is to focus on one thing a week. It's wise to set a schedule that you can easily keep to, so one day a week works well. Below are tips for creating a plan of attack.
There are four weeks in every month, so create a chore list that plays to one area in the home per week. For example, do wet areas like the kitchen and bathrooms on Week One; living areas like the den, dining room and office on Week Two; and bedrooms on Week Three. Save Week Four for detailed cleaning, in any area. For instance, you might polish all the knobs in the house, or detail the inside of the fridge. Whatever's been bothering you all month, take care of in Week Four. A bonus to this system is that you may actually find it easier to relax about something that's less than perfect if you know it's on the calendar to be taken care of soon.
Before you get started on your new schedule, build a cleaning kit to fit your chore list. This makes it easy to get cleaning right away when the time comes, instead of hunting around under different sinks and in several closets looking for all the appropriate cleaning supplies. Many people use a bucket to hold Bounty paper towels, a dust rag, window cleaner, a mop and a disinfecting multi-surface cleaner. A vacuum cleaner sits nearby for wall-to-wall carpeting.
Now it's all about keeping to whatever schedule you set for your chore list. If you find that one week takes far more effort than another, then try to adjust your tasks to even them out. The important thing is finding a routine that fits your lifestyle, so that you can stick to it every week. If you follow your plan, you'll have a cleaner living space in a month, and a consistently clean living space forever!
