Making special birthday cake designs can be a major event in your household. Don’t worry about being a great baker, you can buy an unfrosted cake to decorate. Go to the grocery store and buy a round, unfrosted, two-layer chocolate cake for this task. Most kids love chocolate, and chocolate-covered candy is always popular. This task takes little time to complete and kids are delighted with the results!
What You'll Need:
1 Two-Layer, Unfrosted Chocolate or White Cake
1 Can of Chocolate Frosting
1 Can of White Butter Cream Frosting
Yellow and Blue Food Coloring
Chocolate-Covered Candy in Different Colors
Bounty Paper Towels
Set up your workstation with all your ingredients to make your special birthday cake designs. Have plenty of Bounty paper towels close by to clean up as you go.
Frost the bottom layer with the chocolate frosting and set the other layer on top.
Mix half of the white frosting with 2 tablespoons of orange juice, 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar and 2 or 3 drops of yellow food coloring. Blend everything together with a spatula. With a blunt knife, frost half of the top layer with this mix.
Mix the other half of the white frosting with 2 or 3 drops of blue food coloring. Blend it well. Spread the blue mixture on the other half of the cake. Frost the sides of the cake with the rest of the chocolate frosting.
Put 2 rows of chocolate-covered candy around the top edges of the cake. Write “Happy Birthday”, the name of the person, and their age with chocolate-covered candy. Serve slices of cake and have Bounty quilted napkins on hand.
