Pet pillows can get really dirty, even from the daintiest of pets. By cleaning them regularly you can extend their life and help to keep your pet clean and comfortable.
What You'll Need:
Liquid Laundry Detergent
Stain Pretreater
Bounty Paper Towels
Instructions:
Check any care tags on the pillow to see if the manufacturer recommends any particular cleaning method. Unless the pillow is very small, it's probably too large for your washing machine. If it can fit in your washing machine easily and it's machine washable, wash it on gentle cycle with liquid laundry detergent.
If the pillow is too large for your washing machine, fill your bathtub with cool water. If the pet bed has a removable cover, remove it. While the tub is filling, check the pillow and its cover for any stains. Treat these stains with a laundry stain pretreater.
Add two to three tablespoons of liquid laundry detergent to the tub, and swish the water to distribute the detergent.
Add the pillow and the cover to the tub and wash them by hand.
Drain the tub and rinse the pillow and cover with cool water. If necessary, fill the tub again with cool water and soak the pet pillow for a few minutes to work the soap from it. Rinse again and wring the pillow out as much as possible.
Allow the pillow to air dry outside in sunlight. Putting the pet pillows in the dryer can break them down and will not dry them thoroughly.
You may want to clean your tub with your favorite cleaner and Bounty paper towels after washing your pet pillows in there!
