It's hard to find someone who doesn't love a good cupcake. Spooky but tasty treats like skeleton cupcakes are the perfect way to celebrate Halloween. These cupcakes are easy enough for most kids to create with some parental guidance, and they're yummy enough for just about everyone to enjoy. This particular skeleton requires two different-sized eyes, but this is not mandatory if you want to keep your shopping list short. An adult should handle all steps involving cutting the candy.

What You'll Need:

One Dozen Vanilla or Chocolate Cupcakes in Silver, Black, or White Paper
Jar of White Frosting
12 Black-Coated Chocolate Morsels
12 Mini Chocolate Cookies (About the Size of a Quarter, any Brand)
One Long Strip of Black Licorice
18 White Jellybeans
Kitchen Knife
Bounty Paper Towels

Instructions:

Cut the licorice in small pieces, about one centimeter long. These will become the nose cavity—you will need about 24 of these.

Cut the white jellybeans in half lengthwise to create the teeth. This may be okay for older children to do with some parental guidance, or you can do this for them beforehand.

Frost the top of one cupcake. Try to make the frosting as flat as possible along the top, but it's okay if it's not perfect.

Place one of the small chocolate morsels on the cupcake near the top to make the left eye. Place the mini chocolate cookie next to it to make the larger right eye.

Add two pieces of licorice vertically below the eyes and underneath, near the edge of the cupcake, add three halves of the jellybeans to make the teeth.

Repeat steps 3 to 5 for the rest of the skeleton cupcakes.

Use miniature chocolate cookies or chocolate wafers for the eyes, but anything that is the size of a quarter works just as well. If you don't like the taste of licorice, try brown or black sprinkles. A good alternative to white jellybeans is mini marshmallows cut in half. As you can see, there is a lot of leeway for creativity and using what you have for these skeleton cupcakes—another reason they are a family favorite! Use a Bounty paper towel to clean up when you’re done and put a stack of Bounty Quilted Napkins on your serving table.
