How to Clean a Litter Box

It doesn't matter how many cats you have, it is important that you make time to clean your litter box. Cats are very sensitive to smells, and the box should be as odor free as possible. If you decide to choose clump litter, you need to know that it can stick to your cat's fur. Litter should never be poured more than 2" deep in the box. Also, a liner is useful for easier removal of the litter. Follow these easy steps to keep your pet's litter box clean, and your pet happy!

What You'll Need:

Fine Grain Litter
Litter Bags (Optional)
Unscented Liquid Detergent
Baking Soda
Bounty Paper Towels

Instructions:

It is a good idea to clean a litter box thoroughly especially if you have multiple cats. Scooping the litter box on a daily basis is necessary for a clean and fresh smelling litter box, especially if you have multiple cats

Scoop the clumped litter and fecal matter from the box and put it inside a garbage bag for disposal. If you use a liner, just pick it up, close it, and dispose of it in the garbage. Scrape any damp litter off the bottom and sides of the litter box.

With damp Bounty paper towels, and some unscented detergent, wipe out the entire box. Be sure to clean the entire outside of the box as well. To remove the detergent, go over the litter box completely with a damp paper towel.

Dry the littler box thoroughly with Bounty paper towels. Sprinkle some baking soda on the bottom of the little box, which will help keep it free from odor. Put your plastic bag inside the litter box and fill with 2" of litter.
